Philanthropy is a Humanities Discipline
The Humanities Council is dedicated to improving the quality of life in Washington, DC. Founded in 1980, we are a non-profit that aims to connect DC’s residents to their city’s past, present, and future through humanities programming and grants.
Special thanks to the hundreds of volunteers, donors, advocates, and committed members of our Board of Directors.
And to the National Endowment for the Humanities, the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, the DC Historic Preservation Office, the DC Public Library, the DC Office of Cable, Television, Film, Music, and Entertainment, The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Pulitzer Prizes, the Historical Society of Washington, D.C., the President’s Commission on the Arts and Humanities, the Mellon Foundation and the Federation of State Humanities Councils National Trust for Historic Preservation.
