“Educational Emcees”: Hip-Hop, Spoken Word Poetry, & Educational Leadership

Tony Keith, Jr. will share highlights from his dissertation research about Hip-Hop, spoken word poetry, and educational leadership. The event will feature presentations and performances by local and internationally recognized Hip-Hop educators, rappers, poets and emcees who also serve as community partners for public high schools around the country, including: Jessica Care Moore, Jessica Valoris ; William Jenkins; Yusha Assad; Princess Best Speaks; Elisabet Velasquez; Branden Balenzuela; and Veracity Savant. DATE/LOCATION CHANGE! DC Community Heritage Grant Workshop

The DC Community Heritage Project grant workshop scheduled for Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at the Tenleytown Library has been moved. It will now take place on Wednesday, December 20, 2018 at the Chevy Chase Library. This year’s DCCHP grant will be awarded for projects that document the history of 1968 in Washington, including the riots and the activism and community organizing that followed.
