Washington, DC – April 1, 2017 – Effective April 1, 2017, the Humanities Council of Washington, DC (HumanitiesDC) will manage the popular CultureCapital.com website and job bank. As the National Endowment for the Humanities state council for the District of Columbia, HumanitiesDC provides diverse programming District-wide, supporting local humanities programs. Launched in 2008 by CultureCapital, CultureCapital.com digitally promotes, engages and informs the public of performing arts, visual arts and educational events of over 250 arts presenters through metropolitan DC.
According to Rosemary Reed, a long-time Board member of both CultureCapital and HumanitiesDC, “This move for CultureCapital to HumanitiesDC is a perfect marriage of two great organizations. I’m so pleased to see the excellent collaboration between the two non-profits and it makes my service to both over the years all the more worthwhile.”
Robert P. Bremner, Chairman of the HumanitiesDC Board of Directors, noted, “The humanities, heritage, preservation and the arts thrive most when they work together. We look forward to expanding the resources we can offer to support those organizations that enrich our community’s cultural vibrancy.”
As the District of Columbia’s Office of Planning prepares to release a comprehensive cultural plan in the coming weeks, HumanitiesDC will serve as a resource for all cultural practitioners in the region – offering diverse, inclusive programming, city-wide grants, and now, the strong digital presence of CultureCapital.com.
