Description

The Hillcrest Community Civic Association initiated this oral history project to answer the question, "What makes a strong DC community?" Narrators were asked if Hillcrest exhibits the characteristics of a strong community and what they believe the role of the HCCA should be.

Miles Steele comments on the important partnership which has developed in recent years between the Hillcrest and Palisades neighborhoods of Washington, DC. The cooperation brings together District residents who migh not have otherwise come into contact with one another. Steele also notes that participation in the Hillcrest Community Association among the young people in the neighborhood has been steadily improving.
