The DC Community Heritage Project (DCCHP) is local history at the grassroots level, placing control of the narrative in the hands of the people who create it.   As you may have heard, President Trump’s proposed budget for FY18 eliminates funding for the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Institute for Museum and Library Studies. As the NEH’s designated state council for the District of Columbia, the Humanities Council of Washington, DC (HumanitiesDC) has relied on funding from the NEH for 37 years.
